{"id":233,"date":"2009-02-21T12:01:42","date_gmt":"2009-02-21T11:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staff.science.uva.nl\/~cgmsnoek\/?p=233"},"modified":"2009-03-02T17:11:33","modified_gmt":"2009-03-02T16:11:33","slug":"video-search-engines-at-cvpr2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ceessnoek.info\/index.php\/video-search-engines-at-cvpr2009\/","title":{"rendered":"Video Search Engines at CVPR2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good news, our short course proposal on <em>Video Search Engines<\/em> was accepted for the forthcoming <a href=\"We conclude the course with our perspective on the many challenges and opportunities ahead for the computer vision and pattern recognition community.\" target=\"_blank\">IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition<\/a>. In this half-day course <a href=\"http:\/\/staff.science.uva.nl\/~smeulder\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arnold Smeulders<\/a> and I will discuss the problems of video search, present methods how to achieve state-of-the-art performance, and indicate how to obtain improvements in the near future. We give an overview of the developments and future trends in the field on the basis of the <a href=\"http:\/\/trecvid.nist.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">TRECVID benchmark<\/a> \u2013 the leading evaluation campaign for video search engines run by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nist.gov\" target=\"_blank\">NIST<\/a> \u2013 where we have consistently scored a top-three performance over the last five years.
